The European Chemicals Agency has published the updated proposal to restrict per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) under the EU’s chemicals regulation, REACH. The update was prepared by the authorities of five countries.

The Commission welcomes the provisional agreement reached between the European Parliament and the Council on the so-called ‘one substance, one assessment’ (OSOA) package.

The European Commission published the Omnibus IV package which includes amendments to the F-Gas Regulation. The purpose of this initiative is to simplify existing administrative and reporting requirements.

Following the inclusion of metered dose inhalers in the scope of the new Regulation on F-Gases, it is necessary to establish a new template for the Declaration of Conformity.

The European Commission authorised an exemption for the use of F-Gases with GWP of more than 150 for some food service equipment until 30 June 2026.

The official minutes of the plenary meeting in November 2024 have been distributed. The Netherlands and France are in the meantime regulating PFAS at the national level.

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and authorities from Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden have released a progress update on the process to restrict PFAS in Europe.

UK from 01 January 2025 will impede the placing on the market of single split air-conditioning systems containing less than 3 kg of fluorinated greenhouse gases with GWP of 750 or more.
