Policy Updates

<p>On behalf of the European Commission, Öko-Recherche is working on a series of analysis evaluating the implementation of the F-Gas Regulation (EU) No 517/2014 since 2015. The Q1/2023 report has been recently shared with Eurovent.</p>

The European Parliament and Council of the EU are in the process of adopting their positions on the proposed Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation.

The European Commission published the Net Zero Industry Act on 20 March 2023. It aims to strengthen Europe’s net-zero technology products manufacturing ecosystem. Heat pumps are part of the list of “Strategic Net-Zero Technologies”.

The Council of the EU and European Parliament have adopted in May their respective positions on the European Commission’s legislative proposal on ‘Empowering consumers for the green transition’. Trilogues will start.

The European Parliament formally approved the Machinery Regulation in its plenary sitting of 18 April, with 595 votes in favour, 7 votes against, and 30 abstentions. The Competitiveness Council endorsed the final text on 22 May.

On 15 September 2022, the European Commission proposed the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), which introduces mandatory cybersecurity requirements for products with digital elements. Consideration of the proposal in Parliament and Council is progressing.

The European Parliament’s ITRE and IMCO Committees have adopted and published their positions on the revised Construction Products Regulation (CPR). In the Council, the Swedish has proposed a compromise text.

The European Commission recently confirmed that an additional stakeholder technical meeting will take place on 12 June 2023, on the review of Ecodesign requirements for space heaters.
