The European Commission published its proposal for a Critical Raw Materials Act on 20 March 2023. It aims to increase and diversify the EU’s supply of critical raw materials and includes new proposed requirements for cooling generators, heat pumps and electric motors.

The Commission published several key initiatives to advance the circular economy. These include the rules on waste shipments, an evaluation of electronic waste legislation, and new rules to improve recycling efficiency.
The Commission welcomes the provisional agreement reached between the European Parliament and the Council on the so-called ‘one substance, one assessment’ (OSOA) package.
The Omnibus IV aims to simplify the single market and reduce bureaucracy. The Commission aims to achieve this by reducing compliance costs for businesses and improving the clarity and coherence of EU rules and regulations.
Recently, the Commission started the Call for evidence on the revision of the Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Regulations for refrigerating appliances with a direct sales function, Regulations (EU) 2019/2024 and (EU) 2019/2018.
The European Commission is working on a Single Market Strategy to further strengthen the EU internal market and prevent internal barriers and frictions, including several issues that affect the HVACR sector.
The Commission opened the call for evidence and public consultation for the Industrial Decarbonisation Accelerator Act. The deadline for the call for evidence is 08 July 2025, and for the public consultation, it is 09 July 2025.
