Policy Updates

<p>This conference took place at the same time as the Eurovent General Assembly. It sought to get the views and ideas from Member States and stakeholders on the functioning of the Single Market.</p>

<p>In 2012 it was decided to outsource some of the activities. The Orgalime partnership received the order for collecting and assembling the overall European developments.</p>

<p>On 8 July 2015 these regulations were published. The first tier for Ecodesign applies from 1 July 2016, the second on 1 July 2018 and the third on 1 July 2019. The related draft communication with the references to standards, draft standards and transitional methods proposed by the Joint Industry Experts Group (JIEG) has been made available.</p>

<p>The Joint Research Centre of the European Commission has just published this report that outlines the energy consumption trends in the residential, tertiary, transport and industry sectors.</p>

<p>The European Commission has started this project on resource efficiency in building in 2015. This has resulted in a working paper and is now followed by this consultation on the first draft proposals for indicators.</p>

<p>The application of the 2015/1535/EU (previously Directive 98/34/EC Directive) has also been extended to new standardisation work undertaken by National Standard Bodies (AENOR, AFNOR, DIN, UNI…) at national level. These notifications are registered centrally by the CEN Management Centre and a "Monthly Notifications Register" is circulated in English to the CEN Members and the European Commission. The National Standard Body generally provides the relevant associations with a copy of these updates.</p>

<p>The European Commission has launched a public consultation on the Internal Market for Goods (enforcement and compliance), as announced in the Single Market Strategy. This consultation seeks stakeholders’ feedback on the extent of product non-compliance, and the underlying reasons of this issue in different sectors, the impact of this problem, as well as the adequate actions to address non-compliance.</p>

<p>Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2016/879 of 2 June 2016 establishing, pursuant to Regulation (EU) No 517/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council, detailed arrangements relating to the declaration of conformity (DoC) when placing refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment charged with hydrofluorocarbons on the market and its verification by an independent auditors.</p>

<p>Under the Horizon2020 Innovation Framework Programme the EU is funding the project “SuperSmart”. This project looks at different possibilities to increase energy efficiency in supermarkets. It may support the possible introduction of an Ecolabel for supermarkets.</p>

<p>This study is carried out for DG GROW and should be finished by February 2017. The outcome of the study may become a point systems methodology that could be applied to products (and systems) that are capable of carrying out different functions.</p>
