New CEIS test facilities opened (GEN – 887.00)

<p>On 27 February 2018, Eurovent attended the inauguration of its Associate Member CEIS’ new testing facility. The project, which was under development for a little more than two years, promises to open doors for a new generation of products and testing opportunities – for the benefit of certification bodies, manufacturers and other organisations in the air conditioning market.</p>

Commission proposal on compliance with and enforcement of EU harmonisation legislation (GEN – 883.00)

<p>The European Commission has noted that many products sold in Europe do not comply with European legislation. The proposal for a compliance and enforcement regulation would increase EU-level coordination of market surveillance, clarify the procedures for the mutual assistance mechanism, and require non-EU manufacturers to designate a natural or legal person responsible for compliance information in charge of cooperating with the EU market surveillance authorities.</p>

Update: European legislative developments (GEN – 882.00)

<p>Similar to the package of energy measures presented on 30 November 2016, the European Commission aims to have a new package available by the end of 2018. This package would include, amongst others, revised Ecodesign & Energy Labelling measures for lighting, displays, household refrigerators, dishwashers, and washing machines. The revision of the motor and fan Ecodesign regulations and the Ecodesign and Energy Labelling proposals for commercial refrigeration are targeted to figure in this package too. </p>

<p>Our Issue Group ‘Eurovent Middle East’ has made it to the final round of the European Association Excellence Awards 2018, which will be held in Brussels on 23 February 2018. Demonstration of European Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL) (GEN – 877.00)

<p>On 22 December 2017, the European Commission released its ‘draft exchange model’ to test the future database EPREL, which is going to be of relevance for many Eurovent members. A first demonstration of EPREL will be given during the upcoming meeting. Eurovent is going to attend the meeting and provide an in-depth summary. A webinar is going to follow. </p>

European Commission: Harmonised Standards (HAS) consultants (GEN – 878.00)

<p>The European Commission is replacing the current system of ‘New Approach (NA) consultants’ with the so-called ‘Harmonised Standards (HAS) consultants’. The HAS consultants’ role is to assess whether the standards drafted by CEN, CENELEC, ETSI comply with the European Commission requests as outlined in the relevant standardisation mandates.</p>
