<p>On a monthly basis, the Eurovent Team compiles a global overview of the latest developments concerning new standardisation activities and technical regulations of relevance for the HVACR industry. Our Notifications allow members to be prepared for developments that can have an impact on them and their products.</p>

<p>The European Commission is seeking feedback on the draft delegated act establishing the technical screening criteria under the Taxonomy Regulation. These technical screening criteria specify the conditions under which particular economic activities qualify as sustainable. They include activities in the HVACR sector. The draft act is open for feedback until 18 December 2020.</p>

<p>The Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Committee and the Energy Labelling Expert Group have voted/discussed the draft omnibus amendment to several 2019 Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Regulations. These draft acts aim to amend several pieces of legislation, those of relevance for Eurovent are (EU) 2019/2024 – (EU) 2019/2018 (refrigerating appliances with a direct sales function).</p>

<p>After two events outside Europe (2017 USA, 2019 China), the 11th International Conference on Energy Efficiency in Domestic Appliances and Lighting (EEDAL) conference returns to Europe in 2021. In 2021, EEDAL will be organised jointly with the International Symposium on Science and Technology of Lighting and will take place from 8 to 10 November in Toulouse, France.</p>

<p>Ongoing European activities related to the HVACR industry - updateThe European Consultations start with a ‘Roadmap/Inception Impact Assessment’ followed by a ‘Public Consultation’. The Roadmap looks for general comments of the interested persons and stakeholders. The Consultation is the second phase and consists of detailed questionnaires. The industry benefits from responding to these Consultations.</p>

<p>The recent meetings on the Circular Economy Action Plan (CEAP) and the Methodology of Ecodesign for Energy related Products (MEErP) address material efficiency. In response to the European Standardisation M/543, the joint CEN/CLC/TC 10 has developed a set of standards dealing with Material Efficiency Aspects for Ecodesign.</p>

<p>The Circular Economy Stakeholder Conference took place on 3 and 4 November and was attended by Orgalim. From the summary made by Orgalim, the main elements for the HVACR industry have been abstracted. These are complemented with the first elements relating to the revision of the MEErP.</p>

<p>On Monday, 9 November 2020, the European Parliament adopted the Recovery and Resilience Facility, as part of the 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) to tackle the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. The final adoption requires agreement of all 27 Member States and should be forthcoming. In addition to the earlier communication on the RRF, the Commission has now published guidance and templates that Member States can use if they wish to qualify for funding. It is reminded that the national proposals must be introduced by 30 April 2021.</p>

<p>The European Building Automation Controls Association (eu.bac) has released its guidelines on the transposition of the EPBD and the role Building Automation Control Systems (BACS) have in this context. It has complemented the guidelines with a checklist for self-declaration of BACS conforming to the EPBD.</p>

<p>In addition to the briefing produced by the European Parliament services, the European Commission has published its Autumn 2020 Economic Forecast. Moreover, the freely accessible CEF eTranslation tool has been expanded to include, among other languages, Russian and Turkish.</p>

<p>The European Parliament services have produced a briefing, providing a summary of the recent economic developments in the EU Member States and an overview of relevant economic projections forecasted by major international and EU institutions, as impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This October update will be followed by another one in November.</p>
