In this episode of ‘Women of Eurovent’, which features women leaders from Eurovent members, Marta San Román, General Director of AFEC, the Spanish association of HVAC manufacturers, tells us how she started her career in HVAC.

What made you decide to pursue a career in HVACR?

Honestly speaking, I was not specifically looking for it. After 15 years of a career in the electromagnetism and electronics industry, an opportunity for a Technical Business Development position at a refrigeration multinational enterprise, came spontaneously. The project was very appealing, and at that time I was captivated by the challenge and attraction of learning something new in a different market. I believe I have the luxury to work in an everchanging, ever improving industry, with great professionals who commit to work on contributing to people and society’s health, comfort and sustainability.

Do you ever feel like you are being underestimated or undervalued? How do you deal with it?

Well. Yes, this is not specific of women in the HVAC sector, it is something that can happen to anyone, any gender, any race, any age, any place and at any job. The only way to deal with it is by moving on. If you are underestimated or undervalued, you are not in the right place, nor with the right people.
