<p>The Refrigeration & HVAC Indonesia exhibition is the most promising industry event Indonesia, a fast-growing South-East Asian market. As an offspring of the parallel event International Indonesia Seafood and Meat exhibition, this event specifically attracts relevant audience from Indonesia’s cold chain industry. The exhibition takes place in Jakarta from 28 to 30 September 2017. In this article, our Team has compiled a market summary for members and why this country deserves a stronger attention by the European industry.</p>

<p>The EU F-Gas Regulation (No 517/2014) bans the use of fluorinated greenhouse gases with GWPs greater than 150 in systems with a rated capacity of 40kW or more from 2022. The Regulation also included a promise to review this prohibition by considering the availability of cost-effective, technically feasible, energy-efficient and reliable alternatives. This has been assessed by the European Commission in its report of last 4 August 2017. In this article, the Eurovent Team has analysed the EC report (for members only).</p>

<p>In a further move to increase cooperation between our members, most upcoming ventilation-related Product Groups meetings (AHU, CUR, ERC, FANS, FIL) will be held within three days in Zoetermeer, Netherlands, from 4-6 October. Together with our Dutch member VLA, a side-programme including a panel discussion with EU decision-makers is going to be organised. Members that have not yet signed up should do so as soon as possible.</p>

In this article, our Team provides members with a short overview on our family of organisations (the ‘World of Eurovent’), allowing you to better understand them while making more effective use of our network.</p>

<p>The first ever Forum Trosa will take place on 4 September 2017. It will offer an in-depth seminar programme on how the quality of the indoor air affects us. Myths, new research and what individuals and organisations can do. The event is a collaboration between Trosa municipality, situated some 70 kilometers south of the Swedish capital, Stockholm and our affiliated manufacturer Camfil. Eurovent and Swedish Ventilation association are contributing to the event.</p>

<p>In this paper, CECED and Eurovent have jointly provided input for the European Commission review study of ecodesign and energy labelling for air conditioners and comfort fans (Commission Regulation (EU) No 206/2012 and the Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) No 626/2011). The paper specifically addresses Task 1 and Task 2 of the Study’s draft interim report.</p>

<p>The Regulation introduced the return to the A-G scale with a differentiated timing. For consumer products, this should be achieved by 2020. Domestic air-conditioners, residential ventilation and professional refrigerated storage cabinets will have rescaled energy labels by 2025 at the latest. For space and water heaters (including heat pumps) the rescaling should be achieved by 2030. As from 1 January 2019 (in some cases 30 June) suppliers shall, before placing a product on the market, enter public and compliance information in a product database. In this article, the Eurovent Team has provided an assessment for members.</p>

<p>This Guide appears one year after the publication of the Commission Notice updating the “Blue Guide” on the implementation of EU product rules. On 457 pages, this Guide provides explanations of the concepts and requirements of the Machinery Directive to ensure uniform interpretation and application in the EU. At present, the new guide is available in English only. Translation into the other EU languages is expected.</p>

<p>On a monthly basis, the Eurovent Team compiles a global overview of the latest developments concerning new standardisation activities and technical regulations of relevance for the HVACR industry. Our Notifications allow members to be prepare for developments that can have an impact on them and their products.</p>

<p>The white paper details a total of five uncertainties that can occur during the measurement process. In addition to errors in measuring instruments, it looks at both uncertainties in the reproducibility of tests in different laboratories and in the manufacture of compressors. Moreover, the document also highlights the uncertainties in performance prognosis as well as the difference between nominal and test conditions.</p>

<p>The outcome of the ‘Technical assistance study for the assessment of the feasibility of using a “points system” methodology in the implementation of Ecodesign Directive complex products and/or product systems’ may become a point systems methodology that could be applied to products (and systems) that are capable of carrying out different functions. It is now up to the European Commission to decide on subsequent steps. The Eurovent Team has compiled key takeaways for members.</p>

<p>Eurovent Market Intelligence (EMI), the European reference for HVACR market statistics and an independent subunit of the Eurovent Association, has just released results of its studies on 2016 HVACR sales in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The results are based on real sales data. EMI provides annual and quarterly results, market trends and analyses, and makes reassessed data available for non-manufacturers. The number of participants has tripled during the last 5 years and reaches today around 300 manufacturers worldwide for 12 programmes.</p>
