Brussels, 25 November 2025. Eurovent released a new Recommendation on applying safety and environmental laws to commercial refrigeration. It was developed by the Eurovent Product Group ‘Commercial Refrigeration Equipment’ (PG-RDC).
The recommendation provides a comprehensive guide to the application of European safety and environmental regulations in the design, installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of commercial refrigeration systems. It serves as a key reference for manufacturers, installers, maintenance technicians, designers, and operators across the EMEA market.
The document covers a full overview of the regulatory and standardisation framework for refrigeration systems and equipment, and on safety classifications and environmental impact of refrigerants, including those affected by the PFAS issue under REACH.
Eurovent PG-RDC Secretary, Massimiliano Ferrario, stated: “This Recommendation equips the industry with essential clarity at a crucial time. The Eurovent Product Group ‘Commercial Refrigeration Equipment’ (formerly ‘Refrigerated Display Cabinets’) covers refrigerated display cabinets (remote and integral units), walk-in cold rooms, commercial beverage coolers, ice-cream freezers and refrigeration packs. Its main tasks are advocacy on European and national legislation, development of EN, ISO and Eurovent standards, promotion of the industry and its export initiatives.
