Legend of Eurovent: Raul Simonetti

Raul Simonetti received the Legend of Eurovent Globetrotter award during the 2025 Eurovent Summit. He is a quiet traveller who moves seamlessly across continents, associations, and generations, attentively observing trends, developments, intentions, and emotions.

Raul Simonetti, the Chairman of the Eurovent International Task Force and Eurovent globetrotter of the year, is a true global citizen whom everyone would wish to have as a neighbour. He connects behind the scenes and always provides much-needed emotional support to the HVACR international community.

Two years after pursuing his Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Engineering at the University of Trieste, Italy, DANIELI Automation S.p.A employed him as a System Engineer for a steel rolling mill. His responsibilities entailed selecting the hardware, writing the software, and doing the commissioning of the automation of rolling mills in different countries around the world. His first job gratified him with long-stay trips: six months in Thailand, three months in New Zealand, and another three months in Switzerland.

Following that intense period and a couple of less important technical experiences later, CAREL interviewed him for a post as a trainer for humidification systems that CAREL still produces. In the year 2000, he accepted the job offer with great commitment. He later became a Product Manager and then an Application Manager for humidification and evaporative cooling systems. At the same time, he joined ASHRAE Technical Committee 5.11 Humidification Equipment in 2008.

In 2014, CAREL offered him the opportunity to represent the company in industrial associations. Raul considers working in associations such as Eurovent as an interesting and useful career advancement because it allows him to understand CAREL’s HVACR businesses at a 360-degree level. This enables him to anticipate the short, medium, and long-term impacts generated by new legislation; to contribute to the innovation of products and services even before customers may realise its impact, and to help Eurovent influence them.

Currently being the Chairman of Eurovent International, he still manages to travel and increase his knowledge of the HVACR businesses while putting it into service for all Eurovent members who are also active outside of the European Union.

Upon receiving his award, Raul stated: “I was honestly surprised by the recognition, which, for this reason, was even more appreciated. Having been nominated Legend of Eurovent pushes me to dedicate the same, if not more, engagement and energy to Eurovent International for the benefit of all Eurovent’s members.”
