Eurovent invites EUROVENTSUMMIT participants to a seminar on 25 September focused on how innovations in materials and circularity are reshaping the HVACR industry, spotlighting insights on building a low-carbon, resilient future.

At the EUROVENTSUMMIT, the seminar titled ‘Closing the loop: Innovations in materials and circularity for HVACR systems’ (powered by International Copper Association Europe) invites participants to explore how circular practices can transform the HVACR sector. Taking place under the theme #ManufacturingForTomorrow, this session will focus on material choices, reuse strategies, and design for circularity as key drivers of sustainability. The seminar takes place on Thursday, September 25 2025, from 14:30-17:30h.

The programme features concise presentations from leading experts within and beyond the HVACR industry, each highlighting the environmental impact of materials and the opportunities of circular design principles. Following the talks, an interactive panel discussion and Q&A will encourage open dialogue and exchange among all Summit attendees.

Speaker lineup and topics

Expert presentations

Atze Boerstra (Professor Building Services Innovation, TU Delft) ‘Circular building installations: Myth or reality?’ Circularity / environmental impact of materials used for HVAC appliances and systems.
Charlotte Nyholm (Team Leader Sustainable Construction, Granlund) ‘Reuse of HVAC products – Learnings from Finnish pilot projects’, Circular business models for HVAC product manufacturers, circularity as a tool for lowering embodied carbon emissions.
Štěpán Stojanov (Secretary General, Czech Association for Cooling and Air Conditioning Technology) ‘Life cycle of refrigerants – theory and reality’ Conditions and current status for the recovery, recycling, regeneration, and disposal of refrigerants in Central Europe.
Bettina Schreck (Independent Expert, Sustainability Analytics)
From mandate to momentum: Global refrigerant transitions under the Kigali Amendment’
A firsthand view of how countries across and beyond Europe are aligning with the Kigali Amendment to transition toward low-GWP refrigerants – through policy, innovation, and investment – based on the latest insights from the Montreal Protocol’s Technology and Economic Assessment Panel.
Robert Pintér (Manager Market Development, International Copper Association Europe)
Copper: The strategic, circular, and sustainable raw material of the HVACR industry’
Why copper is essential for the HVACR sector, its primary and secondary supply and demand in the EU, the availability of this strategic raw material, and how the decarbonisation of copper production and recycling can enhance the sustainability of the HVACR industry.
Roman Tvrznik (Chairman of the Board of Directors, ELEKTROWIN)
20 years of successfully fulfilling the obligations of electrical equipment producers’
Results of take-back in the Czech Republic, projects to support collection, recycling of electronic waste, material recovery, and reuse.
Walid Atmar (Consultant for Built Environment, FME)
Circular HVAC – What ‘R’ we doing?!
Industry challenges with circularity ambitions in the Dutch building codes.

Attendees will leave with fresh insights into how adopting circular practices can reduce carbon footprints, enhance resource efficiency, and shape a greener future for both manufacturing and the built environment.
