The Eurovent Product Group ‘Air Filters’ has unanimously re-elected Marc Schmidt as Chairman and Thomas Caesar as Vice-Chairman for another term. The re-election marks the continuation of a highly effective leadership team.

The Chairman and Vice-Chairman have been recognised for their commitment to excellence, technical expertise, and strategic vision in advancing air filtration standards across Europe. Marc Schmidt has served as Chairman of the Product Group ‘Air Filters’ (PG-FIL) since 2020. Under his leadership, the group has strengthened its influence in key regulatory discussions, deepened engagement with EU institutions, and advanced the development of harmonised standards that promote high-performance, energy-efficient filtration technologies. With over two decades of industry experience, Marc Schmidt is widely respected for his collaborative leadership style and ability to build consensus across a diverse membership base.

Thomas Caesar brings a wealth of technical knowledge and regulatory insight to his continued role as Vice-Chairman. He is a recognised expert in filtration technology, having played a pivotal role in the development of ISO 16890, the international standard for air filter classification, and regularly contributes to Eurovent’s technical guidance documents.

Marc Schmidt mentioned after the meeting: “Thank you to all participants for re-electing me as Chairman of the Eurovent PG-FIL. It is my pleasure and honour to chair such a knowledgeable and productive group. Special thanks to the group Secretary, Igor Sikonczyk, for preparing the meeting.â€

In relation to the prospects of the group, Marc added that: “We aim to further promote the growing public awareness of the value of clean air, for example, through our ongoing social media Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) campaign. Additionally, we are discussing how to classify absorbents containing hybrid filters in accordance with ISO 16890. Another important topic is the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for air filters. This means that in the future, air filters will not only be considered in terms of their filter performance and energy efficiency, but also from a sustainability perspective.â€

Thomas Caesar added: “I am very thankful to the group for re-electing me as Vice-Chairman and by this being able to further support Marc and the group in our important tasks. Air filtration is the answer to many of the global challenges to achieve a healthy and sustainable environment, indoors as well as outdoors. It is an honour for me to be able to give my contribution to this development.â€
