New harmonised standards under the Machinery Directive (MD) were published in the EU Official Journal on 15 May. These include the reference to EN IEC 60335-2-89 for commercial refrigerating appliances.

The European Commission clarified next steps with regards to updated guidelines for the new Machinery Regulation and the completion of the Standardisation Request.

Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2023/1586 was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) on 2 August 2023. It contains the references to harmonised standards adopted for the Machinery Directive.

After formal adoption and signature by the Council and Parliament, the Machinery Regulation legal text has been published in the Official Journal of the EU dated 29 June 2023.

The European Parliament formally approved the Machinery Regulation in its plenary sitting of 18 April, with 595 votes in favour, 7 votes against, and 30 abstentions. The Competitiveness Council endorsed the final text on 22 May.
