State of play

The 2023 General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) was adopted and published in the Official Journal of the EU on 25 May 2023. It will replace the 2001 GPSD from 13 December 2024 and stipulates EU rules on product safety for products or risks not regulated in other EU legislation.

It sets out obligations for manufacturers, importers, and distributors to ensure that products placed on the market are safe, including requirements for traceability, timely recall procedures, and clear safety information.
