On 5 April 2022, the European Commission published a legislative proposal that would repeal and replace the 2014 F-Gas Regulation on fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-Gas). The Parliament adopted its negotiating position on 30 March 2023; the Council on 05 April 2023.
The co-legislators reached a provisional agreement on 05 October 2023. The agreement tightens the HFC phase-down and introduces new product bans that would effectively end the use of the most common HFCs and HFOs in most applications before 2035.
Final adoption by Parliament and Council and subsequent publication are expected in Q1 2024.
