Eurovent has updated Section 2.1 of its Recommendation on Air Curtain Units technical overview, refining the guidance on air speed behaviour in air curtain systems. The document is available for download on the Eurovent website.
The Recommendation Section 2.1, titled ‘Air speed of the curtain as a function of height,’ corrected to better reflect laboratory measurements, marks the most significant change from the first edition. Section 2.1, which explains air speed of the curtain as a function of height, now incorporates refined descriptions of airflow behaviour based on updated test methodologies and findings from controlled laboratory environments.
The revised section provides a more precise characterisation of the three airflow zones of an air curtain, from the high-turbulence outlet region, through the stabilising central jet, to the impact zone near the floor. These corrections help users better understand how air velocity decays with height and how this affects climate separation effectiveness (CSE), a key performance indicator for determining the energy-saving potential of an air curtain. The document can be downloaded free of charge on the Eurovent website.
